Chimney Sweeping and Flue Cleaning

Our services

Chimney Sweeping and Flue Cleaning

A clean chimney reduces the risk of smoke issues, bad odours, poor draught and chimney fires.

  • Dust-free sweeping system with extraction
  • Suitable for all flues, including pellet stoves
  • Combined stove servicing available

Chimney sweeping: a small job that prevents major damage

An annual chimney sweep costing 60 to 90 euros is the cheapest insurance against expensive stove problems. Soot and creosote buildup in the flue reduce draw, increase fuel consumption by 5 to 15 percent, and act as fuel for a chimney fire that can reach temperatures up to 1,000 degrees.

We sweep every type of flue, work dust-free, and provide you with the sweeping certificate required by your home insurance provider right away. Combined with a full stove service, you pay 160 to 250 euros for both combined.

One chimney sweep per year costs less than two bags of pellets and keeps your draw, fuel efficiency, and insurance coverage in order.

How the chimney sweep service works at your home

  1. Step 1: protection and preparation

We cover the stove, floor, and surrounding furniture. The sweeping process uses a sealed system with high-powered dust extraction, leaving your living room completely dust-free. We also empty and disconnect the ash pan and stove pipe beforehand.

  2. Step 2: sweeping top to bottom

Using rotating brushes tailored to your flue size, we thoroughly dislodge soot and deposits across the entire length of the chimney, from the outlet down to the appliance.

  3. Step 3: soot removal and inspection

We vacuum up all dislodged soot and take it with us. We immediately check the draw and structural condition of the flue, giving you honest feedback if we detect cracks or wear.

  4. Step 4: issuing the sweeping certificate

You receive your official certificate straight away, either on paper or digitally. Keep your last two certificates safely stored, as your insurer will ask for them in the event of a claim.

Flues and chimneys we sweep

Every chimney requires a tailored approach, and we bring the right equipment for every system. We sweep masonry chimneys, stainless steel flues with or without flexible liners, twin-wall external flues, and pellet stove flues with their smaller 80 mm diameter. We also sweep the connecting stove pipe between the appliance and chimney during the same appointment.

Hard-to-reach terminal outlets are no problem: our team works safely on the roof and immediately removes bird nests or loose cowls blocking your draw. Your flue is completely clear after a single visit.

What is creosote and why is it dangerous?

Creosote is a hard, tar-like layer formed when flue gases cool down and condense inside the chimney, caused mainly by burning damp wood or idling the stove on low settings for prolonged periods.

This buildup is highly flammable:

a single spark is enough to trigger a chimney fire that reaches temperatures up to 1,000 degrees, cracking masonry and endangering your property.

Regular sweeping removes this layer before it becomes thick enough to catch fire. If you notice shiny, black flakes dropping into the firebox, do not wait for your annual service: call us immediately.

How much does chimney sweeping cost?

A standalone chimney sweep costs 60 to 90 euros, depending on the length and accessibility of the flue, with no hidden call-out fees within our service area. You know the exact price upfront and never pay more than agreed. A standard sweeping session takes 30 to 60 minutes and typically removes 1 to 3 kilograms of soot.

If you combine sweeping with a full maintenance service for stove and flue, you pay 160 to 250 euros for everything combined with just a single home visit.

How often is chimney sweeping required?

For central heating boilers burning solid fuel, annual maintenance is legally mandated in Flanders. For standalone stoves or open fireplaces, there is no direct legal obligation, but your home insurance provider and manufacturer warranty require an annual sweep accompanied by a certificate. For rental properties, the tenant is responsible. Check the official guidance from Flemish heating regulations.

Signs your chimney needs urgent sweeping

Do not wait for the heating season if you notice these warning signs: a stove pulling poorly or blowing smoke back indoors, soot dropping into the firebox, persistent smoky odors, or glass turning black within 1 to 2 days. An inspection is also required after roof repairs or long periods of disuse. Read more warning signs in signs of a dirty chimney.

Sweeping combined with a full inspection

During every sweep, our technicians check beyond just soot accumulation. If we suspect structural damage to the flue, we recommend a home camera chimney inspection. If repairs are needed, you receive an immediate fixed price for chimney lining and renovation. That way, you avoid unpleasant surprises in the dead of winter.

Common situations

Open fireplaces
If you operate an open fireplace, it generates significantly more soot than a closed stove: sweeping once a year is the absolute minimum. If you rent out a residential property or holiday home equipped with a stove, certified maintenance protects your investment: we can schedule this between guest bookings via our rental property maintenance package.
Chimney fires
After a chimney fire, we never perform a standard sweep straight away: we thoroughly inspect the entire flue first, as heat exceeding 1,000 degrees frequently leaves invisible structural fractures. If you recently bought a home with an existing stove, schedule a sweep and inspection before your very first fire.

Schedule your appointment between April and September:

waiting times are usually just 1 to 2 weeks instead of 4 to 6, leaving your stove ready before the first cold spell. If you burn intensively, over 1,500 kg of pellets or 6 cubic meters of firewood per year, consider a mid-season checkup.
