My Premium Pellets by the 15 kg bag
A single bag is the smallest amount we sell, and often the most practical. You buy a few extra when it turns colder than expected, you try a brand before ordering a pallet, or you only light the stove now and then and do not want a stock in the house. My Premium Pellets are ENplus A1 certified softwood pellets with a high calorific value and a particularly low ash content.
How long does one bag of pellets last?
A pellet stove burns roughly 1 to 2 kg per hour, depending on the setting you use, the output of the appliance and how well your home is insulated. One 15 kg bag therefore works out at about a full day of burning on a medium setting, or three to four evenings if you only light the stove after work. In the coldest weeks most households count on about one bag a day.
Work it out for yourself: an 8 kW stove running four hours a day at half power burns roughly 4 to 6 kg a day. One bag then lasts two to three days. If that same stove runs all day, a bag a day is the realistic figure.
When does buying by the bag make sense?
Three situations. You want to try a brand in your own stove before taking in a pallet, because every appliance responds slightly differently to a different pellet. You are near the end of winter and have a few days left to cover without building a new stock. Or you burn for the atmosphere, one evening a week, and a pallet would simply be too much.
Storing and handling
A 15 kg bag is easy to carry on your own and fits in a utility room, a garage or under the stairs. Keep the bags dry and off the floor, on a board or an empty pallet. Pellets are compressed sawdust: once they take on moisture they swell, crumble and block the auger of your stove. Pour a torn bag into a bucket or a bin with a lid.
What to look for in a bag of pellets
Look at the certification, the ash content and how much dust sits at the bottom of the bag. ENplus A1 sets limits on ash, moisture and fines, and you notice the difference in the stove: less ash means emptying the pan less often and glass that stays clear longer. A lot of dust at the bottom of a bag points to pellets that break up in transport, and that dust burns poorly.
By the bag or by the pallet?
Per bag you pay the highest price per kilo, simply because every bag is handled separately. If you burn through a whole season, a pallet is always cheaper, and your stock is indoors before winter starts. For half a winter or a smaller storage space, look at the My Premium Pellets half pallet with 33 bags. For a full heating season the My Premium Pellets full pallet with 65 bags is the cheapest choice per bag.
Why My Premium Pellets
With a single bag you see what matters straight away: an even pellet, little dust at the bottom and a burn without sputtering. My Premium Pellets are ENplus A1 certified softwood pellets with a high calorific value and a particularly low ash content. If you are torn between two brands, buy a bag of each and compare how much ash is left after a week of burning.
ENplus A1 is not a marketing term but an audited standard: it caps the ash content, the moisture, the density and the amount of fines, and it obliges the producer to keep the product traceable. For you it is the simplest guarantee that what you pour into the stove is really what the bag claims.
